Edition IV, Winter 2009
January 2009

Can 2009 really be here?  Time certainly does move fast.  Well get a cup of coffee, or some other soothing beverage, sit back and relax, and find out about some exciting upcoming events.

Some quick updates:
  • Kentucky Quilt Trails:Views and Voices has been published and my photograph, Lincoln’s Hat, was included.  I attended the Kentucky Book    Fair in Frankfort this past November and participated in the book signing.  What a celebrity I became!  The book can be purchased at various locations throughout the state.  Check the website Kentucky Quilt Trail Project for more information and to view another one of my quilt photographs, 54’ 40” Or Fight.
  • The booth design project with University of Kentucky School of Interior Design students was a wonderful experience.  The students had so many sensational designs that I’m having a difficult time selecting what to prepare for my booth at Kentucky Crafted:Naturally!   Make sure you attend the show so you can see what great ideas they had.  I will be in the same booth space, Booth 321.
  • Activities surrounding the Lincoln Bicentennial are in full swing, so make sure you catch some of them.  Information is available at the Kentucky Arts Council website About Lincoln.  Also look for the special Lincoln products at Kentucky Crafted:Naturally!
And now some news:

I’ll be heading to Puerto Rico later this month and hope to capture some exciting images while sightseeing there.  It’s supposed to be a very photogenic spot, so watch for these to show up on my website and at my exhibits.

This year KY Crafted: Naturally!  will include an area highlighting the Kentucky Quilt Trail project, the new community tradition of painting large quilt squares on the sides of barns and other buildings.  This area will show the connections between this new community art form and the traditional art of quilting.  There will be both quilt square painters and quilters demonstrating in the area.  In addition, there will be a sales section, where KAC staff will sell items produced by Kentucky exhibitors that are related to quilting or to the KY Quilt Trail project.

If there is anything about Captures of Nature, images, or information you would like to see published in a future issue of SNAPSHOTS please let me know via email or phone.

I hope to see you at some of the events listed below AND bring your friends and relatives with you.

Please check out my new images while you are visiting my website.
